The first drawings to be released of the St. Paul Saints proposed new ballpark.

The design is the result of a collaboration between Ryan Cos., Julie Snow Architects and Ellerbe Becket, an architectural firm that specializes in baseball venue design.
The look is a far cry from traditional red-brick minor league stadiums (backers emphasize “ballpark”), and JoAnna Villone Hicks, director of development for Ryan Cos., stressed the designs are still “very conceptual.”
The early design calls for a number of environmentally responsible features, from a green roof to water usage that minimizes waste and runoff to the Mississippi River and uses it to water the grass. Snow highlighted a connection — literally through the park on nongame days — for cyclists and pedestrians en route to Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary and Trail.
“It’s a really public facility,” Snow said.
